Why I think it's worthwhile to give a little background:
If you see my journey and have an understanding of my values and ethics you will be able to decide if I'm the right coach for you.
I'll start my story at the end and work back. That way you get an understanding of what brought me to where I am today.
In June 2021 I started running a yoga class on Ainsdale beach, and thankfully it was well liked and the group grew fairly quickly, I added kettlebell/circuit sessions to the timetable and now run classes throughout the week.
This all started after the lockdown due to coronavirus. But before then I had my own gym in Preston even though I'd lived for the past 4 years in Ainsdale with my partner Ash. I had a client base in Preston from my years there at Uni and working in the area.
Titan Strength Academy as it was called was years in the making, 10 years in fact. I had started personal training at 18 after studying a higher diploma in sport science. This came about as a result of an injury sustained in training MMA which was my sport and profession at the time.
7 years ago I came to England as a student, studying exercise physiology. I had a Personal Training business at home in Ireland before moving but ultimately decided I needed more knowledge if is was to make this my life's work.
Towards the end of my 1 year top-up degree after spending all year looking for jobs I managed to start personal training from a gym near my university. After my degree I stayed on to pursue and build a business but also because I had met my now partner (Ash) and mother of our 3 children. In addition I started a MSc in Strength and Conditioning as I wanted to understand more and more of what made our bodies work.
I worked hard on my business and my masters, leaving weekends free for family time. I also got a lecturing role at UCLAN lecturing to undergraduates at the time. With so much on I slept 4 hours a night trained at least once a day and within a year had taken on another coach Dan to work with me.
In June 2018 Myself and two business partners opened Titan Strength Academy, my own gym,
We worked with a wide variety of people, ranging from professional combat athletes to men and women in their 80s. We grew into a fantastic supportive community where everyone was there to improve and grow and help others do the same. It was a judgement free zone and became and absolute pleasure to run.
Running Titan was a massive learning experience, I had to learn so much personally to make it work. I gradually began to realize that training people in the gym was only the tip of the iceberg and only a fraction of what people really needed help with.
Very soon we became known for our training and mindset approach, getting write ups in the local paper for our crucible program which had helped a Titan member with his mental health. I began to get asked to do talks on mindset, productivity, interpersonal interactions and health for local businesses. I must give a mention to the guys at Elevate which helped my massively with my business structure and my own mindset.
I got back into Bjj, muay thai and loved training and competing again. I built a fantastic team of coaches and delivered a premium service to a fantastic bunch of Titan members who were like a family. The atmosphere in the gym was infectious and everyone was able to feed off the buzz. We had team days out and had really started to build momentum.
Then, of course March 2020 happened .
I figured when things eased again I would reopen and rebuild. I spent my time learning, I did my yoga teacher training online, a physics course, and a motorcycle mechanics course. I even considered other avenues of work, getting two lecturing position interviews. I spent loads of time with the family and rediscovered my love of the outdoors.
Bringing it back to the present I have decided to start again fresh in Ainsdale closer to my family. Titan was fantastic and my team of coaches have moved on to University and other roles, Dan now works for the NHS. But Now I seek to use what I've learned in all this and create something even greater here in Ainsdale.
